To support each individual, it is important that we have a clear understanding of their strengths, development areas and future career ambitions. Therefore, all managers regularly hold open, honest and constructive reviews with each member of their team, enabling them to discuss these freely.

People Panels

On a regular basis, HR and senior management teams meet to discuss how our people are performing and whether individuals are ready for the next step in the career ladder. This is a great opportunity for the business to ensure that senior management know who has expressed an interest in advancing their career, and how we can best guide them to do so.

Recruitment is advertised internally, to allow current employees who are interested in a role to apply. Following their regular reviews, internal employees should be able to apply in the confidence that they are ready for the next move

Gist's "Involve" culture

We put a key emphasis on involvement at Gist and we have a dedicated program which aims to ensure that everyone who works with us has a way in which they can suggest ideas for improvement where appropriate. 

We hope that allowing our people to take on new challenges will mean they show their potential in areas they may not have previously taken on and develop new skills that will help them in the future. We pay particular attention to the way in which we communicate as a company, from our intranet and emails, right through to group meetings and briefing sessions - we know how important it is to keep everyone informed.

Importantly, we make sure that our managerial teams are visible and approachable - right from the very top. Regular visits from management teams means everyone has the opportunity to ask questions and understands how their role influences the success of the business.
