International Women's Day - Emma Wright

This International Women’s Day (IWD) we’re celebrating some of our female colleagues who are not only passionate about developing their own careers but helping others to do the same.

Since joining Gist’s payroll department in July 2016, Emma Wright has pushed herself to develop professionally and continues to support the development of her colleagues.

“Every day I learn something new in this business. I have 12 team members and we cover 19 depots across the UK and Ireland. We have an average of around 5,500 Gist employees that we process weekly and monthly payrolls for, plus an Irish payroll and assist Pertemps payroll for our agency workers.

“I feel I know my team on a personal and professional level. They all have different learning styles – some learn whilst on the job and others prefer dedicated work instructions. I have had to gain their trust and see how each team member works. I describe my team as the foundation of my role and looking out for and supporting them supports that foundation.

“Gist has been very supportive of me and my career development. I have recently completed a Payroll Management degree from the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) and will be graduating later in the year. I found this course mentally challenging as I’m very busy in my role and personal life and have two young children, but I have enjoyed it.

“Gist has fully supported me throughout and where I have requested training that I feel is beneficial to me or my team, they have supported it.”
