Gist publishes 2025 Sustainability Report

Gist is proud to announce the release of its fourth annual Sustainability Report, outlining the progress we’ve made in reducing our environmental impact and reaffirming our commitment to M&S’s Plan A and the journey to Net Zero

Key Achievements in 2024/25:

  • Introduced a further 50 bio-CNG vehicles, replacing 1.6 million diesel kilometres and saving approximately 485,000 litres of diesel
  • Achieved a 930,000 kg reduction in waste generated
  • Donated around 575,000 meals through our partnership with FareShare
  • Rolled out the Traka Docksafe red light safety system to enhance site safety
  • Shortlisted for multiple sustainability awards, including the Cold Chain Federation Awards and Logistics UK Awards

Our Journey Toward a Lower-Carbon Future

As part of our alignment with M&S’s Plan A, Gist is committed to reducing carbon emissions by 55% by 2029/30. This includes transitioning to low-carbon logistics, adopting diesel alternative fuels, and investing in innovative technologies.

In the past year, we’ve made tangible progress:

  • Achieved a 1.3% improvement in carbon efficiency in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, by optimising our transport logistics and integrating low-emission vehicles into our fleet.
  • Successfully established a Scope 3 emissions baseline, a critical step in measuring our full carbon footprint and setting future targets. This baseline will serve as the foundation for annual reporting and long-term sustainability planning.
