Gist welcomes 50 new drivers through the Gist Driving Academy
Gist has welcomed 50 new drivers into the business following the success of its Gist Driving Academy.
The logistics specialist launched its in-house training and examination centre in Spalding in October 2021 to help tackle the nationwide HGV driver shortage.
Earlier this year the programme expanded to welcome anyone who holds a full UK driving licence with a least two years’ experience on the roads, or an existing Category C licence holder looking to gain a Category C+E licence.
Artur from Gist Crewe became the 50th person to successfully train as an HGV driver at the end of last month.
Gist’s in-house Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) approved driving instructors and examiners support applicants training and examinations at the Driving Academy in Gist Spalding.
Gist is funding the training, travel, accommodation and Category C+E licence, saving applicants up to £5,000 compared to self-funding. Successful participants could receive their Category C+E certification in seven to 14 days.
