Careers Industrial Placement Schemes If you have a successful year with us, you will have the opportunity to be fast-tracked onto one of our Graduate Management Trainee Schemes in either Operational Management or Human Resources. For Operational Management graduates who are returning Industrial Placements, the graduate scheme is shortened from two years to eighteen months, enabling rapid progression and the chance for you to drive your own development. Operational Management Our Operational Management Industrial Placement Scheme has been designed to offer students the same experience and responsibility offered in the first placement of our Operational Graduate Management Trainee Scheme - creating a brilliant platform to start your career with Gist. Similarly to our Graduate Scheme, our Industrial Placement students must be flexible with their location of employment for their 12 month placement, which could be based in any one of our dedicated Marks and Spencer Food operational sites. Apply now Human Resources Our 12 month Industrial Placement Scheme in HR offers two 6 month placements - the first within our Central HR Team based in our Head Office in Basingstoke, and the second within one of our operational depots supporting the local HR Team. During your first placement with us, you will gain exposure to a variety of different areas in HR through your involvement in HR project work. You will take ownership for seeing project work through from creation to implementation, and engaging the wider business and HR team in delivering key objectives. Within your operational depot HR placement, you will be tasked with supporting the local on-site HR team with day to day HR activities, as well as supporting wider HR projects. Consulting Our Consulting Services team look at improving current operations for Gist and our customers, as well as working closely with our customers to find solutions and transform their supply chains. The team have a wealth of experience and come from different backgrounds including large consultancies and software development companies. Each person has brought with them a range of specialised skills and they have developed industry leading supply chain modelling tools to help them to quickly identify the best solution for Gist and our customers. As a Consulting Industrial Placement, you will be an integral part of the team from the outset, supporting them in various activities which will play best to your strengths. These could include; data analysis to support the bidding process and design logistics solutions (typically using Excel), pulling together market research for the Board to help them make strategic business decisions, as well as project managing plans to deliver change in our and our customers’ operations. You will also be responsible for organising our team’s resource deployment. This is a central role which will give you exposure to each person’s activity within the team. You will run resource meetings with the senior team in order to match work demand with Consultant supply and availability. The role will be based at our Head Office in Basingstoke, but will require some UK travel. Read case studies from our Industrial Placement students to learn more about each of the schemes!
