Gist has been working with Carlsberg UK to improve efficiency and manage their warehouse operations in the UK for container distribution. Over the years Gist has introduced many improvements to the warehouse operations at multiple distribution centres; the teams have enabled the increase of storage space use from 60-90% and have streamlined product movement processes which have improved staff resources by 35%.
Having proved to be a cost efficient and reliable partner, Gist has subsequently been awarded the contracts to manage the container management business, the transport element of Carlsberg UK’s primary business, provide in-feeds for the bottle/can lines and to operate a number of dray vehicles (delivering to pubs) out of the NDC.
A number of Gist staff are present at the Carlsberg brewery sites. These staff deliver keg and cask product from the breweries to the Carlsberg UK retail depot network for its on-trade customers – i.e. pubs - and deliver to major retail customers addressing the off-trade (cans and bottles) business i.e. supermarkets. The Gist team provides support for Carlsberg within these breweries with trained personnel that can work alongside the Carlsberg staff to provide Carlsberg with additional trained staff for peak periods and any long term absence.
