Gist renews Far East contract with M&S

Gist’s reputation as a global supply chain management company has been further strengthened with the news that Marks & Spencer has renewed its Hong Kong freight contract with the company.

Gist has applied its Managed Solutions expertise to manage Marks & Spencer’s inter-country supply chain both efficiently and reliably, dispatching around one thousand aircraft containers of general merchandise to Hong Kong per year. From the consolidation of the merchandise at its international depot at Hemel Hempstead, to freight forwarding the product to Hong Kong, Gist has used its bespoke exception management techniques to highlight and quickly solve potential problems. This has ensured the smooth flow of several million single items across the supply chain – one of Marks & Spencer’s key requirements.

Liz Perry, Marks & Spencer’s head of international franchise logistics, comments: “Over the last twelve months, Gist has provided us with an excellent level of service, meeting all agreed key performance indicators and service level agreements.

“Gist’s team also has a really thorough knowledge and understanding of our business and has tailored its service to suit the demands of our supply chain. This is why we have decided to renew our contract with Gist for a further twelve months.”

Dick Lacey, Gist’s account manager for M&S freight, adds: “By renewing its contract with us, Marks & Spencer has demonstrated the value that it places on good supply chain management. By offering the company a total solution, we have been able to provide them with a reliable and efficient supply chain which has, in turn, given Marks & Spencer the value for money that it requires.”
