Industry Trainer of the Year:

Gist wins at everywoman

in Transport and Logistics Awards 2010

May 2010

Charlotte Russell, general manager for Gist People Services, has been named Industry Trainer of the Year at the 2010 everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards 2010.

The award is for an individual who is demonstrating best practice in training and is going beyond their line of duty to develop the skills of women coming into and working in the industry.

These awards highlight the huge contribution many women make to the transport and logistics industry, an area which is traditionally dominated by men.

Charlotte has wholeheartedly embraced the training agenda and has been instrumental in the launch of Gist People Services, Gist’s new HR and training business.

Through this new business, Gist employees have completed over 1500 NVQ qualifications and almost 350 employees have received externally recognised Skills for Life qualifications in literacy and numeracy.

Maxine Benson MBE, Co-founder and Director of everywoman comments: “We have had a phenomenal response this year with even more entries than ever before, so it’s a really great achievement for Charlotte to be named as winner in the Industry Trainer of the Year category. It’s important for women to look as broadly as possible at the various career options available and the Transport and Logistics sector is an area that offers fantastic opportunities for those who are eager to work in management positions and is so often overlooked. Charlotte is a huge inspiration to other women wanting to work or further their careers in the industry and I wish her the best of luck.”

Martin Gwynn, Gist Chief Executive, said: “Charlotte’s innovative approach to her work in logisitics training has made a step change in the way Gist develops all its people. Her ideas and drive have underpinned this new, award winning business, Gist People Services, a business that delivers training and qualifications to Gist employees, customers and suppliers.”
