What do our people think of Gist?

Martin Gwynn

Martin Gwynn

Chief Executive Officer

Basingstoke

I was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Gist in 1998 after joining the company's Graduate Trainee Programme in 1986 and moved through a variety of roles within the business over the next 12 years. Gist has provided me with excellent grounding in every aspect of the business. I have worked towards underpinning the business with strong core values and a strong strategic approach. My goal for Gist is not complicated; my goal is to keep it at the forefront of logistics innovation.

Anthony McGee

Head of Transport Solutions – Consulting Services

Basingstoke

I joined Gist in 1997 on the Graduate Trainee Programme, initially managing the day to day operation of a new contract, before going on to project and implementation roles.

Having then gained experience in transport operations I became a Consultant in Gist’s head office and now manage the Transport Offer in Consulting Services.

As a Consultant, I design and deliver supply chain solutions for Gist’s internal and external customers. The work is challenging, and always varied and rewarding.

Rachel Beeken

Logistics Manager

Crewe

I joined on Gist’s trainee management scheme after my degree in History at Leeds University. My progression within Gist to become part of the senior management team really proves the company’s commitment to developing people – they give you lots of early responsibility if you can prove you have the talent and ambition to take on the challenge.

I am currently responsible for developing strategy within the transport department and leading all transport managers and 128 full-time drivers.

Transport clerk

Cumbernauld

Since joining Gist in 1982, I have had a number of career changes – starting in administration, then moving to a role in finance and I now work in the transport department. I enjoy being involved in the union here and, on a more personal note, was lucky enough to meet my husband here at work!
