The Maylands depot celebrated its 1 year anniversary on 8th June and the success of the new site has resulted in further growth to incorporate the new EAT contract recently announced. This exciting new venture coupled with the latest technology in both the current Transport and Warehouse operations offers a unique challenge for all involved and a variety to be found in no other Gist site. This shared user site offers you the opportunity to be involved in developing new process and standards from the outset with the EAT team, whilst also working with our existing Maylands team to continue to build on our culture of ensuring that only the very best is achieved in everything we do.  We want a strong leader and highly driven team member who can support and continue to develop our growing operation.

Key Responsibilites

• By leading by example you will deliver demanding safety, service and cost KPIs, setting clear performance goals and involving team members in all our initiatives.
• Ensure your teams are fully trained, highly motivated and extremely productive by utilising outstanding coaching skills and regular performance review meetings.
• Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and introduce preventative measures where appropriate
• Ensure the site achieves all its cost targets through achieving KPI’s to the agreed budget and standards.  Preparing detailed plans for peak periods within set frameworks.
• Make innovative recommendations to the Operations Managers to cut costs, improve quality or increase productivity
• Actively pursue continuous improvement in line with quality initiatives and ensures all jobs are conducted in accordance with the quality policy, manual and relevant work instructions
• Promote a culture that ensures all requirements relating to loss control, health and safety and hygiene are complied with and enhanced in all areas of the warehouse
• Respond to and understand the needs and values of M&S and anticipate and plan for changes in their requirements through development of a close working partnership
• Maintain and promote good industrial and employee relations on site and ensure that potential problems are resolved at an early stage
• Promote a people and safety culture within the team

Job Title

Operations Manager

Job Summary

The Maylands depot, now 1 year old, is experiencing further growth with the incorporation of the new EAT contract recently announced. This exciting new venture has opened a new opportunity for a highly driven, focused and innovative leader to join the team as an Operations Manager. This role requires someone capable of managing the 24-hour shared user site in an efficient and cost-effective manner to ensure the site meets and exceeds both customers’ requirements. This will no doubt be a challenging and rare opportunity for the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilites

• Ensure that the required level of service is provided to M&S by monitoring KPIs, ensuring targets are met and  exceeded and that corrective action is taken when KPI’s fall below acceptable levels
• To lead and develop a flexible, trained and motivated team through excellent communication and regular performance review meetings
• Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and introduce preventative measures where appropriate
• Ensure the site achieves all its cost targets through achieving KPI’s to the agreed budget and standards.  Preparing detailed plans for peak periods within set frameworks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Relevant experience in FMCG distribution industry, covering all aspects of general management with specific experience in warehousing/distribution preferred
• Excellent communication skills as well as the need to be highly organised, flexible and proactive in order to meet and exceed operational objectives
• Computer literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Good analytical skills
• Experience in working in a customer focused environment
• Has all the competencies required to manage at the Operations Manager level

Job Title

Warehouse Operations Manager

Job Summary

This is an excellent time to be joining the Faversham senior team created by more internal promotions.  The past 12 months have seen many changes and additions to the site; the introduction mechanised sortation within the chill chamber and most recently the introduction of picking by Voice within the ambient chamber.   Both of these have led to vast changes in the way the warehouse operates and will continue to give many opportunities for the management team to be at the forefront of shaping how our warehouses of future operate.

Key Responsibilites

The successful post holder will work within a team of three Operations Managers, who will be responsible for managing and coordinating the Warehouse function within the depot on a day to day basis.  Your role will assist in ensuring the efficient and cost effective fulfilment of customer requirements and help ensure the workforce is motivated and well managed and to build and maintain a strong team of Shift Managers, setting them clear objectives, monitoring and providing feedback on performance.

Main Duties

As an integral member of the site’s senior team you will provide clear leadership and direction to the warehouse function within the depot to ensure the efficient and cost effective fulfilment of customer requirements. 

You will inspire and motivate your team of first line managers and use your initiative and leadership skills to influence the way we work and deliver results.

You will be a strong natural leader with proven ability leading a team to produce outstanding results in customers service, efficiency and safety. An effective coach getting the best out your team and stretching them to achieve new levels of performance.  You will be enthusiastic and driven and be able to demonstrate an ability to develop capability in your people, apply robust safety standards, actively support change management and have financial awareness.
