The successful applicant will report directly in to the Transport Manager and will work within a team of six Transport Team Managers.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can think on their feet and influence those around them.  You will have responsibility for a team of drivers, ensuring adherence to legislation and Gist processes but you will also be responsible for their on-going motivation and development.

Key Responsibilites

The Role:: 
Your role will be to ensure the shift you manage within the 24-hour operation runs smoothly by managing in an efficient and cost-effective manner. 

You will be required to manage the planning of resources ensuring targets are met, in order to exceed our Customer’s expectations and add value to the business.  You will be an inspirational leader and a natural problem solver with energy, enthusiasm and passion and be tenacious in pursuit of making a difference. Part of your role will be to monitor and control operating costs within the Transport Department.  This will be done through challenging current practises and introducing new process and procedures.

Your team will consist of a mininum of circa 25 drivers from 150 drivers employed and you will be involved in identifying training needs for your team and implement and support those needs.

Main Duties

Have you got what it takes: 
The successful applicant will have:

Previous management experience in a fast-paced transport/warehouse/logistics operation

Be fully up to speed with current EU tachograph and working time directive regulations.

Good supervisory skills, as well as excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to delegate effectively and make decisions when required.

National CPC advantageous but not essential.

This is an excellent time to be joining the Faversham management team.  The depot is continuously evolving together with its people and its processes.  The depot has undergone vast changes in the last 18 months including the way the warehouse operates and will continue to provide many opportunities for the management team to be at the forefront of shaping our warehouses of the future.

You will be part of a strong team of 12 Team Managers ensuring the effective running of the warehouse.  This will require ensuring a timely, cost effective and accurate delivery of products to store.  The role offers the right candidate the opportunity to motivate, lead and drive a team of warehouse operatives in ensuring a strong contribution to the depot’s performance.

Key Responsibilites

Managing your team within the warehouse operation, you will ensure that the highest standards are met at all times. This will involve allocating resources, monitoring performance and exceeding targets. This is a very hands on role that focuses on motivating and managing people whilst ensuring their development.

 

Main Duties

The Role:

As a Warehouse Team Manager you will lead and develop a team of engaged and highly motivated individuals capable of assisting you in delivering demanding safety, service and cost KPIs. Through regular performance review meetings and by setting clear performance goals, you will lead your team to ensure the site achieves and where possible exceeds all its cost and KPI targets.

You will demonstrate a capability to make innovative recommendations on how to utilise the workforce to the benefit of the depot.  You will look at ways to be cost effective, improve quality and increase productivity and will have actively pursued continuous improvement. You will have experience of promoting a people and safety culture within the team and be able to demonstrate how you maintain and encourage good industrial and employee relations and ensure that potential problems are resolved at an early stage.

• Ensuring efficiencies are maximised (cost to budget, maximise vehicle fill,)
