Martin joined Gist in 1986 on the Graduate Programme and rose rapidly within the organisation, joining the Board in 1995 and becoming Chief Executive in 1998 aged 33.

Martin has a BA Joint Hons from Keele University and an MSc from Cranfield School of Management.
