At Gist, safety is our number one priority and we believe that we can only achieve success by behaving safely – 100% of the time.

Safety is paramount to the smooth running of our operations and the success of our business. At Gist, we all have a responsibility to make our work place safe – be it on the road, in the warehouse, in the yard or in an office.

Safety is not an issue that can be managed and improved in isolation. It requires the understanding, belief and co-operation of every employee. At Gist, we take time to make sure everyone is aware of our safety rules, policies, procedures and targets, and to make the message clear that if we all take responsibility for our own actions, we can save lives.

At Gist we focus on helping everyone in the business understand that safety is not an initiative – it’s the way we conduct our business. This is done as part of an integrated management system which is accredited to BSI EN ISO 9001:2000.

We have a track record of delivering year on year improvements in safety performance and Gist’s safety programme has received recognition as leading the industry, recently winning the following awards;
