Gist wins at BIFA Freight Service Awards 2009

February 2010

Gist’s training and development programme has been recognised the industry leader, winning the Staff Development category at the British International Freight Association’s (BIFA) Freight Service Awards 2009.

Now in its 21st year, this well-established event is recognised as one of the most

prestigious in the industry. The competition encourages and rewards high standards and professionalism, representing the ultimate recognition of special achievements in different sectors of the industry.

Since its beginnings 40 years ago, Gist has been passionate about developing its people. Staff development is an integral part of the business.

Gist has recently embedded an ambitious NVQ training programme for all employees, and earlier this year signed the government’s Skills Pledge, providing an opportunity for every Gist employee to be trained to at least NVQ level 2 within the next three years.

Gist has also established Gist People Services, a new training business delivering NVQs and CPC training internally and externally to the logistics and transport industry.

Martin Gwynn, Gist CEO, said: “The ultimate differentiator is the calibre of our people. Our training and development programme offers immense opportunities for Gist employees, their families and the industry as a whole. We are delighted that Gist has been recognised as an industry leader, winning this prestigious award.”
